Written and illustrated by Tsimshian artist and MOA Shop featured artist, Morgan Asoyuf, who tells us the purpose of her book is to "empower children to understand what their rights are and create abuse prevention." Mousewoman protects and guides young people by helping them avoid or escape bad situations, and is never afraid to stand up to bigger beings. "Learning My Rights with Mousewoman" brings to life the timeless lessons of Mousewoman—lessons that embody the principles outlined in the UN Declaration on the Rights of the Child and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Throughout her artistic career, Morgan Asoyuf has apprenticed with Haida artist Richard Adkins, and Tsm’syen artist Henry Green and studied under German goldsmith Gerold Mueller at the Vancouver Metal Art School. She works in jewellery design, carving, illustration and fashion, and she is driven to pursue the art form as both a purist and lover of experimental technique.
