This pair of beautiful, 14 karat gold earrings will surely strike up a conversation. The detailed design was hand-carved by Kwakwaka’wakw artist Carrie Matilpi. Available in two designs, Wolf and Raven, each earring features a cultured freshwater pearling.
The wolf crest represents intelligence and leadership, a strong sense of family, ritual, spirit and guardianship. Our wolf crest 14k gold earrings feature a white cultured pearling on the base of each hook.
The raven crest is historically credited with releasing the Sun, Moon and Stars into our world. He carries the power of the unknown and is the guardian of magic, seeker of answers and the messenger. Our raven crest 14k gold earrings feature a beautiful black-dyed cultured pearling withiridescent blue-green and violet hues at the base of each hook.
Born in Vancouver in 1976, Carrie Matilpi is a Kwakwaka’wakw, Carrier and Cree artist who is well-known for her intricately carved gold and silver jewelry. Raised in the Kwakwaka’wakw community of Alert Bay, BC, she began an apprenticeship with her father, master carver Charles Harper, of the Carrier First Nation at just 19 years old. Matilpi’s work often incorporates both cross-hatching and stippling techniques to accentuate her fine detailing and stippling.
