This stunning silver cuff bracelet made by Gitxsan-Tsimshian artist Trevor Angus features a hand-carved hummingbird on either side of the band. The hummingbirds face a flower, which bears Trevor Angus' cross-hatching technique.

Each animal has a deep meaning and representation in Northwest Coast art. The hummingbird is a symbol of love, beauty, joy and healing. He is a messenger of good news. Hummingbirds are often depicted alongside flowers.

Trevor Angus is of Gitxsan-Tsimshian heritage and takes the frog as his family crest. Born in Hazelton, British Columbia in 1970, Trevor has trained with a number of prominent Northwest Coast artists including Ken Mowatt and Vernon Stephens. He studied under Gitksan master carvers Ken Mowatt and Vernon Stephens and spent six weeks training in jewellery under Art Wilson. He has also worked with Haida artist Shawn Edenshaw and Nisga'a artist Robert Tait. Today, Trevor is a promising artist with a firm grasp of artistic traditions and a vested interest in the preservation of his cultural legacy for future generations.
