Francis Horne Sr. is a Coast Salish artist born in 1954, at Mount Vernon, Washington. He is a largely self-taught artist, but credits the late Chief Simon Charlie as his mentor. Francis comes from a well-known family of artists, with four talented brothers and five children who carry the artistic tradition forward. Horne Sr. works in many mediums, but is best known for monumental wood carvings, like the five totem poles he carved for the "City of Totems," Duncan, BC. His work is well-known, and collected around the world.
