In Northwest Coast Indigenous cultures, the down of the eagle is used to cleanse the floor of the longhouse, bringing peace to the community. Eagles are symbols of strength, leadership and prestige.

Kwakwaka’wakw and Tlingit artist Corrine Hunt designed these abstract earrings, which feature an Eagle crest with cross-hatched etching and cut-out details. Hunt’s many works include engraved jewelry, custom furnishings in stainless steel and reclaimed wood and sculptural installations. She co-designed the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Medals, and was awarded the National Aboriginal Achievement Award in 2011.
