Pride Feathers Mug
Patrick Hunter
Celebrate Pride with Ojibwe artist Patrick Hunter's striking Pride Feathers mug that combines bold colour with delicate balance and features the artist's signature on the inside.
Patrick Hunter (Ojibwe) is a Two-Spirit graphic artist from Red Lake, Ontario. His work is informed by his cultural heritage, the vibrant legacy of Norval Morrisseau, and the Canadian Group of 7. Hunter creates art that is both powerful and graceful — a reminder that spirit and meaning live in all things.
"I created the Pride Feathers work to visually represent two large parts of my spirit: being Ojibwe, and being a gay man. The feathers in particular are my representation of eagle feathers.
In my culture, we believe that the eagle carries the prayers of the people to the Creator because the eagle flies highest. When an eagle feather is found or given to you, it means that you’ve done something significant and you’re on the right path in life.
Having the courage to be who you are and living with Pride in the 2SLGBTQ community is something that I believe is worthy of many eagle feathers — 6 to be exact ;)"
