Joe Descoteaux is an Ojibway artist who was born in Ontario in 1964 and moved to the West Coast at a young age. With permission to carve in the Kwakwaka’wakw style, he began working under the guidance of his wife Cheryl Wadhams, Don Dawson and Lloyd Wadhams Jr. Through his works, Joe reveals and revives the origins and oral histories of the Kwakwaka’wakw people. His pieces, typically in silver and gold, are highly sought after for their precision and attention to detail.
