Full-Metal Indigiqueer: Poems
Joshua Whitehead
Full-Metal Indigiqueer is a collection of poems featuring Zoa, an Indigiqueer hybridized trickster, who hacks into colonial and literary canons — from Edmund Spenser's The Fairie Queene to the lyrics of Lana Del Rey — disrupting, infecting, and reasserting Indigenous presence. This interruption of text works, seen through Zoa's interplay of organic form and binary code, works to re-center the narrative of Two-Spirit Indigenous identities against colonial narratives.
Joshua Whitehead (Oji-Cree) is an award winning Two-Spirit poet and novelist from Peguis First Nation. In his groundbreaking debut collection, Full-Metal Indigiqueer: Poems(2017), Whitehead fuses cyberspace, queer theory, and Indigenous narrative to reimagine the possibilities of language, identity, and remembrance.
